Abstract
Part-time work, defined as work covering a shorter period than normal daily, weekly or monthly work processes, has begun to attract more people each year. Part-time working includes both advantages and disadvantages for the employees, employers, and the government. It provides a work-family balance and a productive work opportunity for employees. For the employers, it helps reduce costs, and for the government side, it helps reduce unemployment. In terms of disadvantages, it can affect the employees by getting low wages and a lack of job security. For the employers' side, it can reduce organizational commitment, and lastly, for the government side, it tends to informal work. In this context, current research aims to determine the socio-demographic variables which affect part-time work in the case of the NUTS 21 region in Turkey Household Labor Force Survey data of the year 2017 through a logistic regression model. As a result of the findings, it was detected that the variables affecting the part-time probability for the first model were gender, age, education level, and marital status. In the extended second model by adding business size and registered working status to the present variables, it concluded that all variables except marital status had a statistically significant effect on the probability of part-time work.
Özet
Normal günlük, haftalık veya aylık iş süreçlerinden daha kısa süreyi kapsayan iş şeklinde tanımlanan kısmi süreli çalışma, her geçen yıl daha fazla insanın ilgisini çekmeye başlamıştır. Kısmi süreli çalışma biçimi çalışan için iş-aile dengesini sağlama, çalışanların verimli oldukları zamanlarda çalışmasını sağlama gibi avantajları içerirken; ücretlerin düşüklüğü, iş güvencesi gibi dezavantajları da beraberinde getirmektedir. İşveren için maliyetlerin azaltılması avantajını getirirken, örgütsel bağlılığın azalması dezavantajını barındırmaktadır. Son olarak devlet içinse işsizliğin azaltılması avantajını barındırırken, kayıtsız çalışmaya yatkın olması dezavantajını beraberinde getirmektedir. Bu bağlamda mevcut araştırma Türkiye’de 2017 yılı hanehalkı işgücü anketi verileri ile Trakya bölgesinde (IBBS 21) kısmi süreli çalışmayı etkileyen sosyodemografik özelliklerin analizini lojistik regresyon modeliyle ortaya koymayı amaçlamaktadır. Elde edilen bulgular sonucunda tahmin edilen ilk model için kısmi süreli çalışma olasılığını etkileyen değişkenlerin cinsiyet, yaş, eğitim durumu ve medeni durum olduğu görülmüştür. Bu değişkenlere işletme büyüklüğü ve kayıtlı çalışma durumu eklenerek elde edilen genişletilmiş ikinci modelde de medeni durumun haricindeki tüm değişkenlerin kısmi süreli çalışma olasılığını istatistiksel olarak etkilediği sonucuna varılmıştır.
