Abstract
Caecidae (Gastropoda-Mollusca,) species of the Aegean coasts of Turkey. This study was carried out for determining Caecidae members distributing along the Aegean Sea coasts of Turkey. In this context, 22 stations were selected from the coastline. The samples were taken from stony biotopes, Padina pavonica (L.) Thivy, 1960, Halopteris spp. and Cyctoseira spp. beds forming facies at stony biotopes and Posidonia oceanica (L.) Delile, 1813, Cymodocea nodosa (Ucria) Ascherson, 1869 and Zostera spp. facieses of the sandy-muddy biotopes. Five species of the family Caecidae including Caecum auriculatum De Folin, 1868; Caeciim clarkii Carpenter, 1858; Caecum subannulatum De Folin, 1870; Caecum trachea (Montagu, 1803) and ParasCrophia asturiana De Folin, 1870 were determined. Among these species C. subannulatum is being reported for the first time along the Aegean and Mediterranean coasts of Turkey, whereas C. clarkii and P. asturiana are new additions to the Aegean Sea Gastropoda fauna. Taxonomical, ecological features and zoogeographical distributions of the determined species are also described in this study.
