Abstract
Investigation on the morphology and length-weight relationship of the scaldfish (Arnoglossus laterna Walbaum, 1792) in Izmir Bay (Aegean Sea). In this study; A. laterna of the family Bothnidae in the Izmir Bay was determined and its the length-weight relationship and morphologically features were examined.Samples were collected by trawl from Uzunada and Güzelbahçe in the Izmir Bay between January 1996-February 1997.In this investigation, a total of 643 specimens was examined. It was determined that the A. laterna specimens were categorized in the age groups of I-IV, total length of 6-15 cm (minimum-maximum) and weight 1.72-31.51 g (minimum-maximum), The length-weight relationship was estimated as W= 0.00932*$L^{2.8975}$ ($r^2$= 0.94)
Özet
Bu çalışmada; İzmir Körfezi'nde yaşayan Bothidae familyasına ait A. laterna türünün morfolojik özellikleri ile boy-ağırlık ilişkisi incelenmiştir.Materyal Ocak 1996-Şubat 1997 tarihleri arasında İzmir Körfezi'nde yeralan Uzunada ve Gülbahçe Körfezi civarındaki bölgede gerçekleştirilen trol çekimleriyle elde edilmiştir. Toplam 643 adet balık üzerinde yürütülmüş olan bu araştırmada balıkların I-IV yaş grubunu temsil ettikleri saptanmıştır. A. laternada, minimum-maksimum total boy değerleri 6-15.3 cm; minimum-maksimum, ağırlık değerleri l .72-31.51 g olarak bulunmuştur. Boy-ağırlık ilişkisi W= 0.00932*$L^{2.8975}$ ($r^2$= 0.94) olarak saptanmıştır.
