Culture of octopus (Octopus vulgaris Cuvier, 1797)

Abstract

Culture of octopus (Octopus vulgaris Cuvier, 1797). The common octopus (O. vulgaris Cuvier, 1797) is which has a world-wide distribution, an economic cephalopod species. The octopus is a candidate species for aquaculture industry, because of easy adaptation to culture conditions, high growth rate, and consumption of low-value natural foods, high fecundity and high market price. Although, culture of octopus from egg to breeder could not attain commercially so far, it is succeed in laboratory conditions at present and this is a hopeful for the future studies.

Özet

Ahtapot (O. vulgaris Cuvier 1797) dünya üzerinde geniş dağılım gösteren ekonomik bir kafadanbacaklı türüdür. Yetiştiricilik koşullarına kolay adapte olması, yüksek gelişim oranı, ekonomik değeri düşük doğal besinlerle beslenmesi, yüksek fekonditesi ve yüksek ticari değeri ile aquakültür sektörü için aday bir türdür. Ahtapotun yumurtadan anaç olana kadar yetiştiriciliği ticari olarak şimdiye kadar yapılamasa da, laboratuar ortamında bu sağlanmıştır ve gelecek çalışmalar için ümit vericidir.
