An investigation on the selection of chestnut seedling rootstock

Abstract

This study is carried out to determine the rootstock characteristics of some chestnut types obtained by selection between 1996-1998. With this purpose, seeds taken from totally 21 chestnut types from seven provinces belonging to Aegean Region were used as production material. Some criteria were determined on germination of seeds and on growth of seedlings belong to these types. The overall data were evaluated by "Weigthed-Rankit" Methods based on the values of the ali criteria that belongs to germination of seeds and growth characteristics of seedlings of the chestnut types. According to the total value scores that the chestnut types took, it has been determined that the types that have 4801, 3501, 3203 and 4501 code numbers gave the best results in terms of rootstock characteristics.

Özet

Bu çalışma, seleksiyon ile seçilmiş bazı kestane tiplerinin anaçlık özelliklerinin belirlenmesi amacı ile 1996-1998 yılları arasında yürütülmüştür. Bu amaçla, Ege Bölgesi'ne ait 7 ilden toplam 21 adet kestane tipine ait tohumlar materyal olarak kullanılmıştır. Bu tiplere ait tohumlarda çimlenme ve yetiştirilen çöğürlerde gelişme ile ilgili bazı kriterlere ait değerler saptanmıştır. Kestane tiplerinin tohumlarının çimlenmesi ve çöğürlerinin gelişmesi ile ilgili tüm kriterlere ait değerler esas alınarak, veriler "Tartılı-Derecelendirme" yöntemi ile değerlendirilmiştir. Tiplerin aldıkları toplam değer puanlarına göre, 4801, 3501, 3203 ve 4501 kod numaralarını taşıyan tiplerin anaçlık özellikleri açısından en iyi sonuçları verdikleri belirlenmiştir.
