Abstract
This work was done in order to determine the distribution and histologic structures of taste buds in different body regions (operculum, posterior of pelvic fin base, anal, gular, posterior and frons region of the gular) in Barbels (Barbus capito pectoralis Heckel, 1843). The taste buds were determined to exist in the region of gular as the most dense, whereas only a few taste buds were found in the posterior of the gular region. The taste buds, which were established to consist of light, dark and basal cells, were also established to separate from epidermis by a border formed by marginal cells.
