Comparison of our results of the application of Thompson and Muller modular straight stem endoprosthesis in the elderly patients with femoral neck fracture

Abstract

We evaluated the clinical and radiological results of 163 patients with fe¬moral neck fractures, in whom hemiarthroplasty with Thompson or Muller modular straight stem endoprosthesis were applied. No statistical differ¬ences were found between the two groups with regard to age, sex, etiologic causes, osteoporosis level, fracture type and operation time. Average follow-up time was 31.4 and 32.1 months for the Thompson and Muller straight stem group, respectively. We found better late clinical and radiologic outcome with Thompson endoprosthesis compared with that of Muller modular straight stem endoprosthesis.

Özet

Femur boyun kırığı nedeniyle parsiyel endoprotez (Thompson ve Muller modüler straight stem) uygulanan 200 hastadan takibi yapılan 163 hastada tedavi sonuçlarını klinik ve radyolojik olarak değerlendirdik. İki grup a-rasında yaş, cinsiyet, etiyolojiîc nedenler, osteoporoz, kırık tipleri ve ameliyat süresi açısından bir fark yoktu. Ortalama takip süremiz, Thomp¬son tipi parsiyel kalça protezli hastalarımızda 31.4 ay, Muller straight stem parsiyel kalça protezli hastalarımızda ise 32.1 aydı. Thompson ve Muller modüler straight stem endoprotez konan iki grubun sonuçlarını mu¬kayeseli bir şekilde inceledik. Thompson tipi endoprotezlerde geç dönem klinik ve radyolojik sonuçların Muller modüler straight stem en-doprotezlere göre daha iyi olduğunu saptadık.
