Primary lymphoma of the breast

Abstract

A 48-year-old female patient with complaints of chest pain, cough, fever, and sputum for a week was admitted with a diagnosis of pneumonia and medical treatment was initiated. Physical examination showed a palpable lump in her right breast measuring 2x2 cm. No palpable lymphadenopathy was detected. Routine laboratory stud-ies were within normal limits. After an Excisional biopsy of the breast mass, a pathological diagnosis of non-Hodgkin lymphoma was made. The patient underwent further examinations with bone scintigraphy, computed tomogra-phy of the thorax and abdomen, and bone marrow aspi-ration biopsy. There was no evidence of disseminated disease and the patient was diagnosed as primary lym-phoma of the breast.

Özet

Bir hafta önce başlayan göğüs ağrısı, öksürük ve balgam çıkarma şikayeti ile hastanemize başvuran ve pnömoni tanısı konarak tedavi altına alınan 48 yaşında kadın hastada yapılan fizik muayenede sağ memede 2x2 cm büyüklüğünde kitle tespit edildi. Hastada lenfadenapati bulunmadı. Rutin laboratuvar testleri normal sınırlar içinde olan hastaya eksizyonel biyopsi uygulandı. Biyopsi örneklerinden yapılan patolojik incelemede non-Hodgkin lenfoma tanısı kondu. Hastaya ileri tetkik ve evreleme amacıyla abdomen ve toraks bilgisayarlı tomografisi, tüm vücut kemik sintigrafisi ve kemik iliği aspirasyon biyopsisi yapıldı. Bu incelemeler sonucu yaygın hastalığa rastlanmadı ve hasta primer meme lenfoması tanısı aldı.
