An experimental study on an artificial sphincter for colostomy

Abstract

Objectives: in an experimental model, we prepared a sphincter from the colon around the colostomy, thinking that such a sphincter can be made in humans after abdominoperineal resection in the anal area. Design and Methods: A five-centimeter colon segment supplied by the left colic artery was removed for making a sphincter in seven dogs. The mucosa of the.colon segment was stripped. Seromuscular sutures were put on the colostomy segment and the lumen was narrowed. The colon segment was then wrapped around the colostomy and a colostomy with a sphincter was obtained. Results and Conclusion: in the first days, the stools were watery, then becoming more solid taking the form of near-normal stools. Defecation occurred at normal intervals

Özet

Amaç: Çalışmamızda köpeklerde kolostomi çevresine bağırsaktan sfinkter oluşturuldu. Bu sfinkter yapısının insanlarda miles operasyonu sonrası anal bölgeye yapılabileceği düşünülmektedir. Gereç ve Yöntem: Yedi adet köpeğin sol kolik arterin beslediği 5 cm'lik kolon segmenti sfinkter yapımı için çıkarıldı. Kolon segmentinin mukozası soyuldu. Kolostomi yapılacak seğmenle seromuskuler sütürler konarak lümen daraltıldı. Kolon segmenti bu kolostominin çevresine sarılarak sfinkterli bir kolostomi elde edildi. Bulgular ve Sonuç: İlk günlerde sulu defekasyon oldu. Daha sonra dışkı kıvamı artmaya ve şekilli çıkmaya başladı. Defekasyon aralıklarla oluştu.
