Unusual radiologic presentation of multiple hydatid cysts in four patients

Abstract

Hydatid cyst caused by Echinococcus granulosis is stili endemic in many countries. In this article, we reported four patients with multiple hydatid cysts to illustrate unusual radiologie presentations. In the first patient, we documented a cyst in the lower lobe of the right lung, a cavity and consolidaton in the middle lobe, and a coexistent cyst in the liver. There were pleural multiple cysts and a liver cyst in the second patient. The third patient had three nodules in the right lung, and a solitary nodule and multiple cavities in the left lung. There were multiple nodules in the upper lobe of the right lung in the fourth patient.

Özet

Kist hidatik, sıklıkla Echinococcus granulosus ile oluşan, birçok ülkede endemik olarak görülen bir hastalıktır. Bu yazıda multipl kist hidatik saptanan dört olgu değişik radyolojik özellikleri nedeniyle sunuldu. Birinci olguda, sağ akciğer alt lobda bir adet kist, orta lobda bir kavile ve konsolidasyon; karaciğerde bir kist belirlendi. İkinci olguda plevrada multipl kistik yapılar ve karaciğerde kist; üçüncü olguda sağ akciğerde üç adet, sol akciğerde bir adet soliter nodul ve multipl kaviteler bulunmaktaydı. Dördüncü olguda ise sağ akciğer üst lobda multipl nodüller vardı.
