Combined Phacoemulsification Intraocular Lens Implantation and Transpupiller Silicone Oil Removal

Abstract

Purpose: To investigate safety and effectiveness of combined phacoemulsification (PE), intraocular lens (IOL) implantation and transpupiller silicone oil (SO) removal.Material and Method: Thirty patients having pars plana vitrectomy (PPV), SO endotamponate, without need for additional vitreoretinal surgery had combined PE-IOL implantation and transpupiller silicone oil (SO) removal. Preoperative, postoperative corrected visual acuity (CVA), intraocular pressure (IOP), complications were investigated.Results: Before combined PE-IOL implantation and SO removal operation mean CVA was 1.71±0.87 (0.56-3.0) LogMar and mean CVA following the operation, at 3th months control, was 1.08±0.90 (0.15-2.65) LogMar (p=0.001).The mean IOP before the operation was 19.21±2.19 mmHg and the mean IOP following the operation, at 3th months control, was 17.32±2.45 mmHg (p=0.001). Retinal redetachment rate was 6.66% following the operation.Conclusion: "Combined PE-IOL implantation and transpupiller SO removal" is an effective and safe procedure, for patients having no need of additional vitreoretinal surgery

Amaç: Kombine fakoemülsifikasyon (FE), göz içi lens (GİL) implantasyonu ve transpupiller silikon yağı (SY) çıkarılmasının etkinlik ve güvenilirliğinin araştırılması.Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu retrospektif çalışmaya, pars plana vitrektomi (PPV), SY endotamponatı yapılmış ve arka segmente yönelik ek uygulamalara ihtiyacı olmayan 30 hasta dahil edildi. Hastalara, 'kombine FE-GİL implantasyonu ve SY çıkarılması' ameliyatı yapıldı. Hastalar, ameliyat öncesi ve sonrası kontrollerde; düzeltilmiş görme keskinliği (DGK), göz içi basıncı (GİB) ve komplikasyonlar açısından değerlendirildi. Bulgular: "Kombine FE-GİL implantasyonu ve SY çıkarılması" öncesi ortalama DGK, 1.71±0.87 (0.56-3.0) LogMar iken; ameliyat sonrası 3.ayda ortalama DGK, 1.08±0.90 (0.15-2.65) LogMar oldu (p=0.001). Kombine ameliyat öncesi ortalama GİB, 19.21±2.19 mmHg iken; ameliyat sonrası 3. ayda ortalama GİB 17.32±2.45 mmHg olarak bulundu (p=0.001). Kombine ameliyat sonrası, 2 (%6.66) hastada nüks retina dekolmanı gelişti. Sonuç: Kataraktı olan, PPV-SY yapılmış ve arka segmente yönelik ek uygulamalara ihtiyacı olmayan hastalara yapılan "kombine FE-GİL implantasyonu ve SY çıkarılması"; DGK'da artış, GİB'de azalma sağlar.
