The comparison of short wave diathermy and ultrasound therapy in TMJ dsyfunction

Abstract

THE COMPARISION OF SHORT WAVE DIATHERMY AND ULTRASOUND THERAPY IN TM J DSYFUNCTION Physiotherapy is used commanly in the treatment of TMJ pain and dysfunction. The aim of this study was to compare short wave diathermy with ultrasound in the treatment of TMJ dysfunction. 40 patients were included in the study and they were randomly separated into two groups, 2 different forms of physical therapy were applied to the patients. The cases were assessed due to VAS (visuel analogue scale) and clinical findings before and after the treatment. After the physical therapy, all the groups displayed statistically significant improvement. There was no statistically significant difference between two groups.

Özet

Fizyoterapi, temporomandibuler eklemde (TME) ağrı ve disfonksiyon sendromunda yaygın olarak kullanılmaktadır. Bu çalışmanan amacı TME disfonksiyon tedavisinde fizik tedavi yöntemlerinden KDD ve ultrason tedavisini karşılaştırmaktır. Polikliniğimize TME ağrı ve disfonksiyon şikayeti ile gelen 40 hasta 2 gruba ayrıldı ve hastalara 2 farklı fizik tedavi programı uygulandı. Hastalar tedavi öncesi ve sonrası klinik bulgular ve VAS (Visüel analog skala) ile değerlendirildiler. Fizik tedavi sonrası her 2 grupta istatistiksel olarak anlamlı düzelme olduğu saptandı, iki grup arasında istatistiksel farklılık yoktu.
