Abstract
The RT-PCR amplification of CK-20 mRNA is considered a promising candidate method for the detection of circulating tumor cells in bone marrow of coloreckil cancer patients. In this study we investigated the presence of metastatic tumor cells in the bone marrow samples from colorectal cancer patients of various stages fn-22) and healthy donors (n-i) and the correlation between the stage and the presence of malignant tumor cells. Our results demonstrate the presence of malignant tumor cells in the context ofCK-20 positivity. However, we are not able to show any significant correlation between the presence of malignant tumor cells and the stage of the disease.
