Examination of parasite records of fecal analysis of 14 primary health care centers that give laboratory service in Mersin Centre in 2001

Abstract
This study was conducted in 14 primary health çare centres where faecal examination is made in Mersin Province. Being based on the records and situation determination, this study is of a descriptive characteristic. The results of the parasitological examinations performed in faeces in 2001 were scanned from the laboratory records retrospectively. The aim was to analyse the distribution of the results obtained from parasitological examination in terms of age, gender and months. in the study area, rate of parasitological examinations among all other examinations was 7.8%. Parasites were detected in 2,340 (50.9%) of the examinations performed and no parasite was detected in 2,257 (49.1%). it was reported that one parasite was detected in 2184 (93.3%) of the analyses performed; in 150 (6.7%) more than one parasite was detected, 78.5% were Entamoeba histolytica; 17.5% were Giardia intestinalis; and 10.0% were Enterobius vermicularis. Conseguently, it was reported that in one of every two examinations, a parasite was detected and most of these parasites were E. histolytica. it was observed that the Information existing in the laboratory record books of the health centre was insufficient and incomplete.

Bu çalışmada; Mersin İl Merkezinde, gaita tetkiki yapılan toplam 14 birinci basamak sağlık kuruluşunda yürütüldü. Kayıtlara dayalı bir durum saptaması olan bu çalışma, tanımlayıcı niteliktedir. 2001 yılında yapılan gaitada parazit tetkiki sonuçları laboratuvar kayıtlarından geriye dönük olarak tarandı. Elde edilen parazit tetkiki sonuçlarının yaş, cinsiyet ve aylara göre dağılımlarının incelenmesi amaçlandı. Çalışma bölgesinde tüm tetkikler içinde parazit tetkiki oranı %7.8'di. Yapılan tetkiklerin 2,340'ında (%50.9) parazit görüldüğü, 2257'sinde (%49.1) görülmediği saptandı. Tetkiklerin 2,184'ünde (%93.3) bir, 150'sinde (%6.7) birden fazal parazit görüldüğü belirlendi. Görülen parazitlerin %78.5'inin Entemoeba histolytica, % 17.5'inin Giardia intestinalis, % 10.0'ınm Enterobius vermicularis olduğu saptandı. Çalışmada; her iki tetkikten birisinde parazit görüldüğü, bunların da büyük çoğunluğunun E. histolytica olduğu saptandı. Sağlık kuruluşlarının laboratuvar kayıt defterlerinde önemli bilgi eksiklikleri olduğu gözlendi.
