Abstract
A disease is defined as "rare" in Europe when it affects less than 1 in 2000 and affects a small percentage of the population. Rare diseases create many biopsychosocial and economic problems for individuals, families and society. Medical social work, which is a specialized area of social work solving these problems and resolving needs, is a special area of social work that intervenes in the interaction points that cause problems by identifying the difficulties brought by the illness, mostly in the treatment team, acting from the holistic understanding of health. From this point of view, it is aimed to investigate the role and function of social work's role in the solution of the problems caused by rare diseases in the study.
