The investigation of accidents housekeeping staff encounter in the hospitals of Ankara

Ankara'da hastanelerde çalışan ev idaresi personelinin karşılaştığı kazaların incelenmesi

Abstract

This research was organized and carried out to determine the accidents Which housekeeping staff are faced with while working in hospitals, the causes and the results of these accidents and the protection the staff take against them. Material and Methods: The research covered all the hospitals in Ankara except for the privatised or specialised hospitals or those whose number of beds are less than 50. All the housekeeping staff working in these hospitals who agreed to be interviewed (510 in all) were taken into the research. The research consisted of two pans. The first part of the research was carried out on 510 personnel. The second part of the research was carried out on 49 personnel who had accidents at work. This research was done between January 28th and May 2 th 1997. Chi square analysis was used in the evaluation of the results. Results: 92.7 % of the 510 personnel who participated in the first part of the research took precautions against accidents while working. It was determined that 51.2 % of these wore gloves while collecting rubbish for protection. In the second part of the research of the 49 personnel who had accidents at work, 24.5 % were women and 75.5 % were men. 61.2 % of the accidents were cuts, 28.6 % of them were falls, 8.2 % were poisoning and 2.07 % were burns. 75.5 % of the personnel who had accidents didn't take any precautions against accidents. Among the main causes of the accidents, cuts by needles and bistouries while collecting wastes (61.2%) came first. It was determined that all those who had accidents were completely recovered later. Conclusions: It is to propose that the housekeeping staff should be careful while accomplishing works, avoid any behavior that could be cause of an accident, and wear protection clothes.

Amaç; Bu araştırma, hastanelerde ev idaresi alanında çalışan personelin iş yaparken karşılaştığı kazaları,bu kazaların nedenlerini, sonuçlarını ve personelin bunlara karşı aldıktan önlemleri belirlemek amacıyla planlanmış ve yürütülmüştür. Gereç ve Yöntem: Araştırma bölgesi olarak Ankara'da bulunan Özel, İhtisaslaşmış ve yatak kapasitesi 50' nin altında olan hastaneler dışındaki tüm hastaneler alınmıştır. Bu hastanelerin kliniklerinde çalışan ve görüşmeyi kabul eden ev idaresi personelinin tamamı (510 personel) araştırma kapsamına alınmıştır. Araştırma iki bölümden oluşmaktadır. Birinci bölümde 510 personel alınmış, araştırma formunun birinci kısmı bu personele uygulanmıştır. İkinci bölümde ise bunlar arasından yaptıkları işe bağlı olarak kaza geçiren 49 personel alınmış ve formun ikinci kısmı bu kişilere uygulanmıştır. Araştırma 28 Ocak-2 Mayıs 1997 tarihleri arasında yapılmıştır. Sonuçların değerlendirilmesinde khi-kare analizi kullanılmıştır. Sonuçlar: Araştırmanın ilk bölümünde yer alan 510 personelin %92.7si iş yaparken kazalara karşı önlem almaktadır. İş yaparken kaza olmaması için önlem alan personelin %51.2'sinin çöp toplarken eldiven takmaya dikkat ettikleri belirlenmiştir. Araştırmanın ikinci bölümünde kazaya uğrayan personelin (49 kişi) % 24.5'ini kadın, %75.5'ini ise erkek personel oluşturmaktadır. Kaza geçirmiş olan kişilerin %61.2'si kesik, %28.6'sı düşme, %8.2'si zehirlenme, %2.07si ise yanma geçirmiştir. Kaza geçirmiş olan personelin %75.5'i kaza olmaması için bir önlem almamaktadır. Kazaların temel nedenleri arasında %61.2 ile çöp toplarken iğne, bisturi kesiğini belirtenler ilk sıradadır. Kaza geçiren personelin tamamının iyileştiği belirlenmiştir. Ev İdaresi personelinin işlerini yerine getirirken dikkatli davranması ve kazaya neden olacak davranışlarda bulunmaması, iş yaparken koruyucu giysi kullanması önerilebilir
