The scale recognizing the signs of violence against woman by nurses and midwifes

Abstract
This descriptive and cross sectional research is planned for the purposes of developing a scale for assesing the capacity of recognizing the signs of violence against woman among nurses and midwifes and to determine the reliability and validity of this scale. Data was collected from 154 nurses and midwifes who working 18 health clinics and 3 Mother Child Health and Family Planning Centers (MCHFPC) which were connected to Authority of Health Education and Research Headship of Bornova. The. nurses and midwifes had filled "The Scale for Recognizing The Signs of Violence Against Woman by Nurses and Midwifes " developed by the investigators and sociodemographic data form. Cronbach Alpha ratio of the scale was 0.76. The scale was found reliable and valid. The mean total score of the scale was 18.38±5.23. The nurses and midwifes who had encountered the cases of violence against woman and who had perceived themselfs as self sufficient had higher scores of physical, emotional and total scale.

Araştırma, birinci basamak sağlık hizmetlerinde çalışan hemşire ve ebelerin kadına yönelik şiddet belirtilerini tanıma durumlarını ölçmek amacıyla bir ölçek geliştirmek ve geliştirilen ölçeğin geçerlik ve güvenirliğini saptamak amacıyla planlanmış, metodolojik bir çalışmadır. Veriler, Bornova Eğitim ve Araştırma Sağlık Grup Başkanlığına bağlı 18 Sağlık Ocağı ve 3 AÇSAP Merkezi'nde çalışan 154 hemşire ve ebenin, araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen "Hemşire ve Ebelerin Kadına Yönelik Şiddet Belirtilerini Tanımalarına İlişkin Ölçek" formu ve "Tanıtıcı Bilgi Formu" ile elde edilmiştir. Ölçeğin Cronbach Alpha iç tutarlılık katsayısı r = 0.76 olarak bulunmuş olup, geçerli ve güvenilir bir ölçek olduğu belirlenmiştir. Hemşire ve ebelerin toplam ölçek puan ortalaması 18.38±5.23 olarak belirlenmiş ve kadına yönelik şiddet olgusuyla karşılaşma durumlarının ve kadına yönelik şiddet konusuna ilişkin kendi yeterlilik algılarının, fiziksel ve ruhsal belirtiler alt ölçek ve toplam ölçek puan ortalamaları üzerinde oldukça etkili olduğu saptanmıştır.
