Effect of the social environment on the oncology patients anxiety and depression levels

Abstract
This study has done to determine the ejfects of social environment on the oncology patients'anxiety and depression levels. Our study has done with 85 oncology patients who are taking treatment at Gaziantep University Medical Faculty Şahinbey Searching And Practicing Hospital. Socio-demographic data quastionnare that made after literatüre search and Hospital Anxiety And Depression Scale were used as data collecting equipments. When analyzing data Frequency, One WayAnova and Student T-Test were used. At the end of'the study it has found that social environment of the oncology patients effect their anxiety and depression levels. Anxiety and depression level have found high, patients' whose family relationships decreased ajier his/her ilness, patients' whose friendship and social relationship decreased after his/her illness and patients who feel indisposed because of the dependence to the people around them after his/her ilness.
Özet
Bu çalışma sosyal çevrenin onkoloji hastalarının anksiyete ve depresyon düzeyine etkisini belirlemek için yapılmıştır. Çalışmamız Gaziantep Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi Şahinbey Araştırma ve Uygulama Hastanesi'nde tedavi olan 85 hasta ile yapılmıştır. Veri toplama aracı olarak ilgili literatür incelenerek oluşturulan sosyo- demografik veri anketi ve Hastane Anksiyete ve Depresyon Ölçeği (HADÖ) kullanılmıştır. Verilerin analizinde sıklık, varyans analizi ve student t-testi kullanılmıştır. Araştırma sonunda sosyal çevrenin onkoloji hastalarının anksiyete ve depresyon düzeyini etkilediği bulunmuştur. Hastalığından sonra aile bireyleriyle olan ilişkilerinde azalma olan, hastalığından sonra arkadaşlık ve sosyal çevre ilişkilerinde azalma olan, çevresindeki insanlara bağımlı hale gelmekten rahatsızlık duyan hastalarda anksiyete ve depresyon düzeyinin daha yüksek olduğu belirlenmiştir.
