Oxygen Saturation Monitoring With Pulse Oximeter and Nursing Approaches

Abstract
Pulse oximeter is the measurement of arterial oxygen saturation by a noninvasive method. It is an effective method that is often used in the regulation of therapeutic interventions and in the follow-up of patients in intensive care unit. Studies show that pulse oximetry should not be used in place of the blood gas test. The proper use of the device and correct interpretation of the measurement by the nurses have an important place in the effectiveness of this method.
Özet
Pulse oksimetre arteriyel kandaki oksijen satürasyonunun invaziv olmayan yöntemle ölçülmesidir. Yoğun bakım ünitesindeki hastaların izleminde ve tedavi edici girişimlerin düzenlenmesinde çoğunlukla kullanılan etkili bir yöntemdir. Çalışmalar, pulse oksimetrenin kan gazı testinin yerine kullanılmaması gerektiğini göstermektedir. Hemşireler tarafından cihazın uygun şekilde kullanılması ve ölçümün doğru yorumlanması bu yöntemin etkinliğinde önemli yer tutmaktadır.
