Abstract
Pneumothorax is defined as the complete or partial collapsing of a lung as a result of air accumulation in the pleural cavity. It is important to provide holistic care toward a systematic approach to control symptoms of the patient diagnosed with pneumothorax in the acute phase and to relieve the individual. Accordingly, there is a need for a common language and standardized terminology in the provision of nursing care. In this case report, NANDA Taxonomy II classification system has been used for nursing care of an individual diagnosed with secondary spontaneous pneumothorax due to lifting heavy objects. Eight nursing diagnoses from domains of NANDA Taxonomy II suc as safety/protection, elimination and exchange, activity/rest, safety, comfort and 18 nursing interventions from NIC have been included.
