The results of Farnsworth-Munsell 100 hue test in Turkish population

Abstract
Purpose: To investigate Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue (FM 100 Hue) test scores according to age distribution in healthy Turkish population. Materials and Methods: In this study, FM 100 Hue test was performed in 180 healthy inviduals who comprised to six age groups. In addition, effect of gender, education level, boring level of test and refraction on the test was investigated. Results were compared with previous related studies. Results: The best performance on FM 100 Hue test was achieved in third decade. The error scores increased significantly with the age. The total error scores were higher in right eye than in left eyes in all age groups. Gender and corrected refraction errors didn't change the outcome in FM 100 Hue test. However, education and boring level of test affected the results. Conclusion: The outcome in the present study gives clinicians a solid base to estimate the scores in their patients.

Amaç: Bu çalışma; Türk toplumunda sağlıklı bireylerdeki normal renkli görme skorlarının, Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue (FM 100 Hue) testi ile yaşa göre değişiminin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışmada yaşa göre altı gruba ayrılmış, toplam 180 sağlıklı bireye FM 100 Hue testi yapılmıştır. Ayrıca cinsiyet, eğitim düzeyi, testten sıkılma düzeyi, refraksiyon gibi faktörlerin, Farnsworth-Munsell 100 Hue testi sonuçlarına olası etkileri araştırılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgular literatürdeki benzer çalışmalar ile karşılaştırılarak, sonuçlar tartışılmıştır. Bulgular: En düşük hata skorları üçüncü dekatta elde edilirken, artan yaşla beraber hata skorlarının yükseldiği gözlemlenmiştir. Sağ göze ait toplam hata skorları tüm yaş gruplarında sol göze göre yüksek bulunmuştur. Eğitim seviyesi ve testten sıkılma faktörleri test sonucunu etkilerken, cinsiyet ve refraksiyon (tashih yapılması şartı ile) test sonuçlarını etkilememektedir. Sonuç: Bu çalışmada elde edilen FM 100 Hue testi skorları, klinisyenlere kendi olgularına ait renk görme hatalarının normal sınırlarda olup olmadığının belirlenmesinde yardımcı olacaktır.
