University Students' Opinions About the Services Given at Student Health Centers

Üniversite Öğrencilerinin Öğrenci Sağlık Merkezlerinde Sunulan Hizmetlere İlişkin Görüşleri

Abstract

AIM: This study was carried out to determine university students' opinions about the services given at student health centers.METHODS: The study sample included a total of four university student health centers located within the municipality bounders of Ankara Province. The questionnaire form which was developed by the researcher was used as data collection tool. The questionnaire form was applied to students who consulted to each student health center within two weeks (10 working days). The data were collected between September-November 2013. The questionnaire forms consisted of questions about sociodemographic characteristics of the participants, student health centers and services provided in these centers. The analysis of the data was performed in SPSS 20.0 statistical package program using descriptive statistics.RESULTS: According to the study results, 58.06% of the participiants were female, and 91.32% of them were unemployed. The students liked mostly about student health centers are the speed of services (37.00%), good quality of services (28.78%) and easy access (28.50%). The students disliked mostly about student health services include lack of expert staff (28.90%), limited hours of examination (21.43%) and indifference of laboratory personnel (16.55%).CONCLUSION: In line with these results, increasing the promotion of services given in these health centers, making cooperation and agreement with hospitals and other external centers to provide a wider range of services for students and describing expectations of students' to personnels, analysis of the opinions of the personnel providing their services in student health center, and academic, administrative and other staff, and their relatives when giving in-service training will be a guiding tool in increasing service quality and planning of the services.

AMAÇ: Bu araştırma üniversite öğrencilerinin öğrenci sağlık merkezlerinde sunulan hizmetlere ilişkinin görüşlerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapılmıştır.YÖNTEM: Araştırmanın örneklemini Ankara ili belediyesi sınırları içerisinde yer alan toplam dört üniversite öğrenci sağlık merkezi oluşturmuştur. Veri toplama aracı olarak araştırmacı tarafından geliştirilen soru formu kullanılmıştır. Her bir öğrenci sağlık merkezine iki hafta (10 iş günü) içerisinde başvuran öğrencilere soru formu uygulanmıştır. Veriler Eylül-Kasım 2013 tarihleri arasında toplanmıştır. Soru formunda katılımcıların sosyodemografik özelliklerine ait sorular ile öğrenci sağlık merkezi ve hizmetleri ile ilgili sorular yer almaktadır. Veri analizinde SPSS 20.0 istatistik paket programı kullanılarak, tanımlayıcı istatistikler kullanılmıştır. BULGULAR: Araştırma sonuçlarına göre, katılımcıların %58,06'sı kadın olup, %91,32'si herhangi bir işte çalışmamaktadır. Öğrenciler sağlık merkezinde en çok hizmetlerin hızlı olma özelliğini (%37,00), hizmetlerin iyi olması özelliğini (%28,78) ve ulaşım kolaylığı özelliğini (%28,50) beğenmektedirler. Beğenmedikleri özellikler ise, uzman personel eksikliği (%28,90), muayene saatlerinin kısıtlı olması (%21,43) ve personellerin ilgisiz olması (%16,55) şeklinde belirtilmiştir.SONUÇ: Bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda sağlık merkezlerinin hizmetlerinin tanıtımının arttırılması, öğrencilere daha geniş kapsamlı hizmet sunabilmek için hastane ve dış merkezlerle iş birliği ve anlaşma yapılması, öğrenci sağlık merkezlerinin hizmetleri ile ilgili planlama yapılırken ve personellere hizmet içi eğitim ve oryantasyon eğitimi verilirken öğrencilerin beklentilerinin anlatılması, gelecek çalışmalarda öğrenci sağlık merkezinde hizmet sunan personellerin ve hizmet alan akademik, idari ve diğer personel ile yakınlarının da görüşlerinin incelenmesi, hizmetin kalitesinin arttırılmasında ve hizmet planlamasında yol gösterici olacaktır.
