ON EDUCATION OF TYPOGRAPHY IN TURKEY

Abstract

New communication media emerging with technology broadens application areas and description of typography. Keeping up with the ever-evolving communications environment, contributing to our typography area and using effectively typography in all areas of visual communication will be possible with receiving a good education of design students in typography. In this respect, it should be considered on featured issues in modern typography education and condition of typography education in educational institutions at regular intervals. Within this study, it is mentioned a brief history of typography education in Turkey, some proposals concerning the development of typography education in our country have been put together under specific headings.

Özet

Gelişen teknolojiyle ortaya çıkan yeni iletişim ortamları, tipografinin tanımını ve uygulama alanlarını genişletmektedir. Sürekli gelişen bir iletişim ortamına ayak uydurabilme, yazı alanımıza katkıda bulunabilme ve tipografiyi görsel iletişimin her alanında etkin ve yetkin bir şekilde kullanabilme, ancak tasarımcı adaylarının iyi bir tipografi eğitimi almaları ile mümkün olacaktır. Bu açıdan çağdaş tipografi eğitiminde öne çıkan konuların ve eğitim kurumlarında verilen tipografi eğitiminin üzerine belirli aralıklarla düşünülmesi gerekmektedir. Bu çalışmada, Türkiye'de tipografi eğitiminin kısa tarihine değinilmiş, ülkemizde tipografi eğitiminin geliştirilmesine yönelik düşünceler belirli başlıklar altında toplanarak çeşitli öneriler getirilmiştir.
