Abstract
Cryptosporidium is one of the most important etiologic agents of chronic diarrhea in immunosupressed patients. Modified Erlich-Ziehl-Neelsen (EZN) staining method is quite helpful for a definite diagnosis in addition to routine methods such as direct microscopic examination and culture of the stool samples, especially in patients complaining of chronic diarrhea with a known or unknown immunodeficiency. In this report two cases have been presented; one was an HIV positive patient and the other was a patient with cellular immune deficiency who presented with chronic diarrhea. These two cases were diagnosed as Cryptosporidium infection by the help of modified EZN staining method.
