Comparison of the proportion dilution method and Etest for ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin susceptibility testing of mycobacterium tuberculosis

Abstract

The antibacterial activities of ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin on 100 clinical isolates of Mycobacterim tuberculosis were determined by using standard proportion dilution method and Etest. When 98 of 100 M. tuberculosis isolates were susceptible to ofloxacin and ciprofloxacin, two were resistant to both of the drugs. The correlation between Etest and standard proportion dilution method was 100%.

Özet

Bu çalışmada, çeşitli klinik örneklerden soyutlanan 100 Mycobacterium tuberculosis izolatının ofloksasin ve siprofloksasine duyarlılığı standart proporsiyon dilüsyon ve Etest yöntemi ile araştırılmıştır. Hem standart proporsiyon dilüsyon hem de Etest yöntemi ile 100 kökenin 98'i ofloksasin ve siprofloksasine duyarlı olarak bulunurken iki kökende hem ofloksasin hem de siprofloksasine direnç saptanmıştır. Etest ile standart proporsiyon dilüsyon yöntemi arasında %100 uyum bulunmuştur.
