Abstract

This article aims to make an assessment about where the name of “Bağlama” comesfrom in the light of newly emerging findings and information. First of all, history ofstring musical instruments was examined in the central Asia, Anatolia and nearbygeography. Secondly, the information is given about the composition of Alevi-Bektashy literature and music, in which folk music tradition is highly living. Thirdly,the formation “Deste Bağlama” tradition and the process of transtion from lutekopuzto “Bağlama” have been evaluated. As a result, “Deste Bağlama” which givesits name to the both musical instrument and the accord(Akort), is the mostimportant part of Alevi-Bektashy’s “ayin-i cems”, literature and music. In the courseof time, the order has been started to be called as “Bağlama Düzeni” and the nameof the musical instrument becomes “Bağlama”.
