Abstract

Mahmûd Râtib Bey is one of the well-known figures in history of music andliterature. He played flute in Muzıka-yı Humâyûn and retired from this institution.Because of his great interest in poetry, each couplet that he wrote was highlyappreciated, his poems were composed and his anecdots were much talked about.He was a Mevlevî. In this article, the life of our hero, was detailed through theagency of written sources and his verses.
