Abstract

The Relationship of Corneal Refraction Power with Age The relationship of corneal refractive power with age was investigated in 220 patients (117 males, 103 fe¬males) aged from 5 to 75. The patients were .grouped according to their sex and refractive erros. The cor¬neal refractive power was measured by Javal kerato-meter. In correlation analysis of the corneal refractive power and age no statistically significant relation was found in myopic males and females (p>0.05), while a positive relation detected in hyperoplc males and fe¬males (p<0.05). The increase in the refracting power of the cornea with increasing age in hyperopia may be one of the emmetropization mechanisms which is developing, against the refraction changes in the di¬rection of hyperopia in adult eyes because of the eyes tend to remain in emmetropic.

Özet

Taşlan 5-75 atasında 220 olgunun (103 kadın, 117 erkek) kornea kırma gücü ile yaş ilişkisi araştırılmıştır. Olgular seks ve refrak-siyon kusurlarına göre gruplandmlmıştır. Kornea kırma gücü Javal Keratometre ile ölçülmüştür. Kornea kırma gücü ile:. yaş arasında korelasyon analizi yapıldı. Miyop kadın ve erkek gruplarında istatis¬tiksel olarak anlamlı bir ilişki bulunmazken (p>0.05), hipermetrop kadın ve erkeklerde pozitif ilişki saptanmıştır (p<0.05). Gözün emetropide kalma eğiliminden dolayı, hipermetroplarda yaş ile kor¬nea kırma gücünde meydana gelen artma, yaşhlardaki refraksiyo-nun hipermetropi yönündeki değişikliklerine karşı geliştirilen eme-tropizasyon mekanizmalarından biri olabilir.
