Abstract

Sympathetic ophthalmia (SO) is a rare bilateral panuveitis which occurrs following penetrating injury to the uvea of one eye. We presented two cases with late onset SO with presumed two different inciting event. The first case was a 49 year old male patient who had retinal detachment and vitreoretinal surgery in the right eye 15 years ago. He presented with symptoms of eye redness and blurry vision. Ophthalmological examination revealed an acute bilateral panuveitis. The second case was a 59 year old female patient, who had a perforating injury in left eye 44 years ago. She had a complaint of visual loss and eye redness. Ophthalmological examination revealed acute bilateral granulamatous panuveitis. Both patients were diagnosed as SO and treated with corticosteroids. Afterthen, the second case was also started cyclosporin A.

Özet

Sempatik oftalmi (SO); bir gözdeki uveal dokunun yıkımını takiben ortaya çıkan, iki taraflı bir panuveittir. Bu çalışmada; iki farklı nedenle ortaya çıkan geç dönem SO, iki olguyla sunulmuştur. İlk olgu; 49 yaşında erkek hasta olup 15 yıl önce sağ gözden dekolman ve vitrektomi ameliyatı geçirmiş; kızarıklık, bulanık görme yakınmasıyla başvurup, akut iki taraflı panüveit tanısı almıştır. İkinci olgu; 44 yıl önce soldan perforan göz yaralanması geçiren 59 yaşında diyabetik kadın hasta olup iki gözde kızarıklık, sağda görme azlığı yakınmasıyla başvurmuş, akut iki taraflı granülomatöz panuveit izlenmiştir. Her iki vakaya da SO tanısı konmuş, steroid tedavisi uygulanmıştır. İkinci olguya takipte siklosporin A başlanmıştır
