The use of mitomycine-c in the recurrent pterygium cases

Abstract

Surgical excision of the pterygium is insuffient in it's treatment and recurrences after excision may be nen. Because of recurrence, the use of local mitomi-dn-C therapy after surgical excision is useful. In our clinic, 15 patients with recurrent pterygium were treated with 0.2 mg/ml mitomidn eye drops (three times in a day, for 7 days). The results were evalua¬ted about complications and postoperative recur¬rences. Average postoperative follow-up was 10 months. Complications wern't seen, exclude 1 (%6.6) punctate keratopathy and 2 (%13.3) recurrence.

Özet

Pterjium tedavisi kesin iyileşme ile sonuçlanmamakta ve nttksler görülebilmektedir. Nüks olgularında cerrahi tedavi yeterli sonuç sağlayamadığından, postoperatif topikal mitomisin-c kullanımı re-kttrrensi önlemede yararlı olabilmektedir. Kliniğimizde, nüks pter¬jiumlu 15 hastaya klasik pterjium eksizyonundan sonra 7 gün sü¬reyle günde 3 kez bir damla şeklinde mitomisin-c (0.2 mg/ml) uy¬gulandı. Sonuçlar, postoperatif nüks oranı ve komplikasyonlar açı¬sından değerlendirildi. Ortalama 10 aylık takip sonrasında, 2 (%13.3) olguda nüks ve 1 (%6.6) olguda da punktat keratopati dışında herhangi bir kompli-kasyona rastlanılmadı.
