Javal keratometry and computerized corneal topography in patients with keratoconus

Abstract

PURPOSE: The aim of the study was to compare the keratometric results of Javal keratometry and EyeSys computerized corneal topography in patients with keratoconus. MATERIAL: Keratometric and computerized topographic measurements {EyeSys, sim-K values) of 68 eyes of 34 patients were performed by the same ophthalmologist. The results were recorded and compared statistically. RESULTS: The mean refractive power was found 48.5 ± 4.7 D in the keratometry group and 48.7 ± 5.6 D in the topography group (p>0.05). There was a strong lineer correlation between the two groups (rp: 0.65, p<0.001). The mean vertical axis value was 98.9 ± 27.7 degree in the keratometry group and 97.0 ± 31.2 degree in the topography group (p>0.05). There was a strong lineer correlation between the two groups (rp: 0.69, p<0.001). The mean horizontal axis value was 26.6 ± 15.0 degree in the keratometry group and 28.8 ± 16.2 degree in the topography group (p>0.05). There was a lineer correlation between two groups {rp: 0.25, p<0.04). CONCLUSION: There was a noticible agrement between the results of Javal keratometry and computerized corneal topography in patients with keratoconus.

AMAÇ: Bu çalışma keratokonuslu olgularda Javal keratometre ile EyeSys bilgisayarlı kornea topografisinden elde edilen keratometrik sonuçları karşılaştırmak amacıyla yapıldı. YÖNTEM: 34 keratokonuslu hastanın 68 gözünün keratometre ve bilgisayarlı kornea topografisi (EyeSys, sim-K değeri) ölçümleri aynı oftalmolog tarafından yapıldı (TY). BULGULAR: Ortalama refraktif değer keratometre grubunda 48.5 ± 4.7 D, topografi grubunda ise 48.7 ± 5.6 D olarak bulundu (p>0.05). Her iki grup değerleri arasında kuvvetli doğrusal bir ilişki mevcuttu (rp: 0.65, p 0.05). Her iki grup arasında kuvvetli doğrusal bir ilişki mevcuttu (rp: 0.69, p 0.05).
