Abstract

Amyloidosis is a disorder of protein metabolism characterized by extracellular deposition of amyloid, which is an eosinophylic, amorphous protein, in various tissues. The disease is generally diagnosed by the tissue biopsy of the affected organ. Amyloidosis is classified into two main groups as primary and secondary; and these groups are subdivided into systemic and local. Although lots of pathogenetic mechanisms have been proposed, the etiology and pathogenesis of the disease are not totally known. In this study, a case with secondary localised corneal amyloidosis is presented.
