Abstract
Colobomas are caused by the failure of the embryonic fissure to close in the fifth week of the intrauterine life. They can either be seen as a single pathology or with other ocular and systemic pathologies. Unless affecting the central retina, colobomas may not affect visual acuity, but in all patients there is an increased risk of rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Retinal detachment together with choroid colobomas can be seen frequently, but to the best of our knowledge there has been only a few numbers of case reports presenting optic disc coloboma, choroid coloboma and serous macular detachment together.
