Abstract

Çameli (Denizli) region is one of the active tectonic regions located in Southwest Anatolia. In this study, the active earthquake zone in Çameli Region was modelled two- and three-dimensionally using gravity and magnetic method. Within the scope of this study, geophysical analysis methods were applied on the gravity and magnetic data obtained from the General Directorate of Mineral Research and Exploration. Lastly, tectonic traces pertaining to the region were revealed through interpretation of gravity and magnetic results obtained in this study and associated with the formation of earthquakes in the region. As a result of this study it was concluded that although the presence of fluids in the region is an important factor in formation of earthquakes, all physical and mechanical characteristics such as the tectonic past of the study area, the lithology of the materials in the crust and upper mantle, fluid content and material heterogeneity trigger the formation of earthquakes together.
