The Effects Of Reflective Thinking Activities On Science Process Skills

Abstract

The aim of this research is to define the affect of reflective thinking based activities in 7th class Science and Technology Lesson on the students' Scientific Process Skills. Pretest-Posttest design with control groups was used and one of these goups was selected as the control group and the other one as the experimental group.In the application phase, i.e. during the teaching process, the reflective thinking based activities were used for the experimental group, on the other hand program based method was used for the control group. At the end of the teaching process, each of these two groups was tested with the Scientific Process Skills posttest. In order to analyse data, independent t test was used. As a result of the research applied, according to the Basic Scientific Process Skill scores, there were some significant improvements found among the experimental group (who were trained by reflective thinking based activities) over the control group (trained by using the program based method). However, according to the Advanced Scientific Process Skills, there is no significant difference found among the experimental group over the control group.
