The Effect of WebQuest-Supported Mathematics Instruction on Sixth Grade Students’ Critical Thinking Skills

Abstract

–This experimental study aimed to investigate how WebQuest-supported mathematics instruction could impact on sixth grade students’ critical thinking skills. Experimental group completed two WebQuests developed by the researchers whereas control group received normal instruction according to the national curriculum. Both groups received four weeks of instruction from the same instructor. The Critical Thinking Skills Scale was employed both before and after the experiment as pre- and post-test to gather the data. Although students in the experimental group increased analysis, interpretation, and self-regulation scores after the WebQuest intervention, MANCOVA test failed to indicate these increases as statistically significant. Based on the results, both methodological and implemental suggestions were given to further examine the effect of WebQuest use on critical thinking skills
