The usefuliness of osteoporosis risk questionaire for the patient selection before the dexa measurement

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the usefulness of osteoporosis risk questionnaire in postmenopausal women for the patient selection before the DEXA measurement. 272 postmenopausal women with mean age of 56.73 ± 8.25 were included in the study. All patient answered the osteoporosis risk questionnaire and bone mineral density of the patients was measured by DEXA. Osteoporosis and osteopenia was diagnosed in 159 and 69 patients respectively. Bone mineral density was normal in 44 women. Mean total scores of risk question-naire were significantly different in women with normal bone minerait density, osteoporosis and osteopenia. The sensitivity and- specifity of the questionnaire was found to be %69 and %57 respectively. In conclusion the use of osteoporosis risk questionnaire was usefull before the DEXA measurement.
Özet
Bu çalışma postmenopozal kadınlarda osteoporoz risk sorgulama formunun DEXA ölçümü öncesinde hasta seçiminde kullanılabilirliğini araştırmak için yapıldı. Bu amaçla yaş ortalaması 56.73± 8.25-olan 272 postmenopozal kadın çalışmaya alındı. Tüm kadınlar osteoporoz risk sorgulama formunu cevaplandırdı ve kemik mineral yoğunlukları DEXA ile ölçüldü. 159 kadında osteoporoz, 69 kadında osteopeni saptandı. 44 kadında ise kemik mineral yoğunluğu normaldi. Risk sorgulama formu toplam skoru ortalama değerleri bakımından normal, osteopenili ve osteoporotik kadınlar arasında anlamlı farklılık saptandı. Sorgulama formunun sensitivitesi % 69, spesifitesi ise %57 olarak bulundu. Sonuç olarak risk sorgulama formunun DEXA istemi öncesi kullanımının faydalı olabileceği düşünüldü.
