A RESEARCH ON FOREIGN PLAYER LIMITATION IN THE TURKISH FOOTBALL WITH THE OVERVIEW OF THE FANS

TARAFTARLARIN BAKIŞ AÇISIYLA TÜRK FUTBOLUNDA YABANCI OYUNCU SINIRLAMASINA YÖNELİK BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Abstract

The aim of this study is to reveal the perspectives of Turkish football fans for the foreign player limitation in football, which is frequently discussed in our country in recent years and is still being debated today. For this purpose, the questionnaire form consisting of 23 questions and prepared by the researchers has been applied to 1212 fans and the research data has been obtained. Frequency tables, cross tables and chi-square independence test were used as statistical methods in the analysis of the views of the fans. According to the findings, 49.5% of the fans oppose the limitation of the number of foreign players in Turkish football and they say that the number of foreign players must be unlimited. On the other hand, 41.5% of the fans supported the limitation of the number of foreign players and 9% stated that they were undecided. Moreover, the number of foreign players most recommended by the fans is determined as 5 and 6 players, respectively. In the study, the views of the fans regarding the consequences of the foreign player limitation in various aspects are also included in detail. It is thought that with its all findings, the research provides important information to the Turkish football community about the limitation of the number of foreign players.

Özet

Bu araştırmanın amacı, son yıllarda ülkemizde sıklıkla tartışılan ve günümüzde de hala tartışılmakta olan futbolda yabancı oyuncu sınırlamasına yönelik Türk futbol taraftarlarının görüşlerinin incelenmesidir. Bu amaçla araştırmacılar tarafından hazırlanan ve 23 sorudan oluşan anket formu toplam 1212 taraftara uygulanmış ve araştırmanın verileri elde edilmiştir. Bu şekilde elde edilen taraftar görüşlerinin analizinde istatistiksel yöntem olarak frekans tabloları, çapraz tablolar ve ki-kare bağımsızlık testi kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen bulgulara göre taraftarların %49,5’i Türk futbolunda yabancı oyuncu sayısının sınırlandırılmasına karşı çıkmakta ve yabancı oyuncu sayısının sınırsız olması gerektiğini belirtmektedirler. Diğer taraftan taraftarların %41,5’i yabancı oyuncu sayısının sınırlandırılmasını desteklerken, %9’u ise kararsız olduklarını ifade etmişlerdir. Ayrıca, yabancı oyuncu sayısının sınırlandırılmasını destekleyen taraftarların en çok önerdiği yabancı oyuncu sayısı sırasıyla 5 ve 6 oyuncu olarak belirlenmiştir. Araştırmada ayrıca yabancı oyuncu sınırlandırmasının çeşitli yönlerden doğuracağı sonuçlara yönelik taraftar görüşlerine de ayrıntılı olarak yer verilmiştir. Ortaya koyduğu bulgularıyla araştırmanın, yabancı oyuncu sayısının sınırlandırılması konusuna yönelik Türk futbol kamuoyuna önemli bilgiler sunduğu düşünülmektedir.
