THE DISCOVERY OF TAHTAKUSLAR HERITAGE: A STUDY ON RESIDENTS’ ATTITUDES

TAHTAKUŞLAR MİRASININ KEŞFİ: YEREL HALKIN TUTUMLARI ÜZERİNE BİR ARAŞTIRMA

Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine how much the residents of Tahtakuslar neighborhood are aware of their cultural values and what they think about integrating these values into tourism. The residents’ attitudes towards tourism are vital for the future tourism development since they are mostly affected when the tourism develops in their region. In this context, an interview form was created and applied to the 25 residents. In the result of the analysis, 64 % of the residents showed positive attitudes towards tourism development while 36 % of them showed negative attitudes. It emerged that the residents demand tourism development in order to increase their income level, employment, and the economic development. On the other hand, they reject it due to cultural degeneration, the loss of national values, and inconvenient infrastructural problems.

Özet

Bu çalışmanın amacı, Tahtakuşlar mahallesinde yaşayan yerel halkın kültürel değerleri hakkındaki farkındalıklarını ve bu değerlerin turizme kazandırılmasına yönelik bakış açılarını belirlemektir. Bir bölgede turizmin gelişmesi sonucunda en çok etkilenen kesim yerel halktır. Yerel halkın turizme yönelik tutumları o bölgede turizmin geleceği için oldukça önemlidir. Bu doğrultuda görüşme formu oluşturularak, 25 mahalle halkı ile mülakat gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yapılan analiz sonucunda, yerel halktan alınan cevaplara göre % 64 oranında mahallenin turizme açılmasının istendiği, % 36 oranında ise açılmasının istenmediği belirlenmiştir. Yerel halkın gelir, istihdam, ekonomik gelişme gibi sebeplerden dolayı mahallenin turizme açılmasını istedikleri belirlenmiştir. Kültürel bozulma, halkın değerlerini kaybetmesi, alt yapının uygun olmaması gibi sebeplerden dolayı da turizmi istemedikleri ortaya çıkmıştır.
