Investigation of hepatit C virus infection in 509 mothers delivered in our hospital and the vertical transmission of this infection

Abstract
To evaluate Hepatit C Virus (HCV) infection and transmission of this infection to the babies, HCV antibody was investigated by ELISA in 509 mothers who admitted to Zeynep Kamil Maternity and Children's Hospital for delivery from December 1995 to April 1996. One mother was séropositive for anti-HCV. HCV-RNA was also negative in this mother. Healthy term baby of this mother was negative for both anti-HCV and HCV-RNA. Because we didn't find any case with HCV-RNA positive, it wasn't possible to evaluate the vertical transmission of the infection.

Zeynep Kamil Hastanesine Aralık 1995-Nisan 1996 tarihleri arasında doğum nedeniyle başvuran 509 annede Hepatit C Virus (HCV) infe/csiy onunu ve bunun bebeklere geçişini saptamak amacıyla ELİSA yöntemiyle anti-HCV pozitifliği araştırıldı. Bir annede anti-HCV pozitif bulundu. Bu annede HCV-RNA da bakılarak negatif bulundu. Anti-HCV pozitif olan anneden doğan sağlıklı term bebekle hem anti-HCV, hem de HCV-RNA negatif bulundu. HCV-RNA pozitif olgumuz olmadığı için vertikal geçişi değerlendirmemiz mümkün olmadı.
