Notes On The Tıtle Beki/Begi Used Among The Mongolians

Abstract

Genghis Khan, trying to establish the institutional structure of the state in order to determine the future of the state he founded, all the structure of his life throughout the life of the steppe tradition has endeavored to shape each structure. The titles used by the Mongols are a subject that should be evaluated in this context. Various opinions have been put forward until today about the position and effectiveness of the Mongolian title beki/begi in the political, social and administrative life of the Mongolian. This title, which has parallels with the title of beg/bey in Turkish administrative structure, was used in a way that corresponds to a different set of meanings within the Mongol social structure. In this study, the nature, position and position of the title are examined and its connections with the sacred elements of the Mongolian belief world are tried to be determined. In addition, so far a summary of opinions put forward related to the title is given and the progress of this title, which is actively used until a certain period in the Mongol State, is being followed.

Cengiz Han kurduğu devletin geleceğini belirleme adına onun kurumsal yapısını tesis etmeye çalışarak, hayatı boyunca fayda iktiza ettiği her yapıyı bozkır geleneği temelinde şekillendirmeye gayret etmiştir. Moğolların kullandığı unvanlar da bu bağlamda değerlendirmeye tabi tutulması gereken bir mevzudur. Beki/begi unvanı olarak Moğol siyasî, sosyal ve idarî hayatında görülen unvanın mevki ve etkinliği hakkında bu güne kadar çeşitli görüşler ortaya konulmuştur. Türk idarî yapılanmasında beg/bey unvanı ile paralellikler gösteren bu unvan, Moğol toplumsal yapısı içerisinde farklı anlam kümesine tekabül edecek şekilde kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada unvanın mahiyeti, konumu ve mevki incelenirken, Moğol inanç dünyasının kutsalları arasındaki bağlantıları da tespit edilmeye çalışılmıştır. Ayrıca unvan hakkında şimdiye kadar ortaya konulan görüşlerin bir hülasası yapılmaya çalışılmakta ve Moğol Devleti’nde belli bir döneme kadar aktif olarak kullanılan bu unvanın gelişim seyri takip edilmeye çalışılmaktadır.
