Group B streptococci colonization in pregnant women with premature labour in the second trimester

Abstract

To evaluate the cervical colonization ratio of Group B streptococci in pregnants with premature labour, the possible complications in the pregnants with colonization throughout the pregnancy and their newborns in short term, the 74 pregnant -women in the second trimester -with the diagnosis of premature labour -were enrolled in study between February 1996 and April 1997. Group B streptococci colonization was found in seven patients (%9.45). While four of the seven patients (%57.14) with colonization had premature delivery, 15 of the 67 patients (%22.8) without colonization revealed premature delivery. In the patients with premature labour which is difficult to prevent or can not be prevented, cervical group B steptococci colonization must be searched.

Prematür eylem gelişen gebelerde servikal grup B streptokok kolonizasyon oranını, bunlarda gebelikleri boyunca gelişen maternal komplikasyonları ve yenidoğanda erken dönemde oluşabilecek komplikasyonları saptamak amacıyla Şubat 96/Nisan 97 tarihleri arasında prematür eylem tanısı almış 74 ikinci trimestir gebesi çalışmaya alındı. Bu gebelerden alınan servikal kültürde 7(%9.45) hastada Grup B streptokok kolonizasyonu saptanırken 67(%90.55) hastada servikal grup B streptokok kolonizasyonu saptanmadı. Servikal kolonizasyonu olan 7 hastanın 4(%57.14)'ünde prematür doğum gelişirken servikal kolonizasyonu olmayan 67 prematür eylemdeki gebenin 15(%22.38)'inde prematür doğum gerçekleşti. Durdurulamayan veya durdurulmasında güçlük çekilen prematür eylemdeki hastalarda servikal Grup B streptokok kolonizasyonu aranmalıdır.
