Abstract
The feeding anamnesis and three-days records of 33 patients with histology proven chronic active gastritis and 15 of this patients' siblings and 10 healthy children were evaluated. It has been suggested that 9-15% of daily caloric intake should come from protein, and 35-45% from fat, and 45-55 from carbohydrate. These rates were observed in our cases as %11, %20, %69, and 9%, 30%, 61% in the siblings, and 10%, 35%, %55 in the healthy controls. We found that our patients with gastritis consume less fat, and higher protein and carbohydrate than usual. Linoleic acid and arachidonic acid in vegetal oil are precursors ofprostoglandins, the protective factors for gastric mucosa. The children with gastritis were aimed to put fat-restricted diet by their parents. It was emphasized that this factor should be consider in pathogenesis and treatment of gastritis.
