Identifying the factors affecting the mean duration of hospitalization of the patients with inguinal hernias

Abstract

The principal aim of the hospital management is to supply excess number of qualified services with the lowest finance. Estimating the duration of hospitalization by standartizing the same treatment duties according to disease groups will help the hospital management to both control the quality of patient care and also make a productive planning. This study aimed to determine the factors identification and completion of the same treatment duties by examining the 1100 patients with diagnosed inguinal hernias and who were hospitalized in Turkish Arm Forces hospitals between 1993-1994 and also evaluate the effects of these factors on the mean duration of hospitalization. As a result there was a statistically significant difference between the hospitalization durations according to the years, the type of hernias, the pre-post op complications, the causes of the complications, the hospitals, the doctors, the waiting days before and after operations and investigations.

Özet

Hastane yönetiminin asıl amacı, en düşük maliyetle, fazla sayıda ve kaliteli hizmetler sağlamaktır. Hastalık türüne ilişkin aynı tedavi işlemlerini standart hale getirerek yatış sürelerini tahmin edebilme, hastane yönetiminin hem hasta bakım kalitesini kontrol edebilmesini hemde verimli bir planlama yapabilmesini kolaylaştıracaktır.Bu çalışmada; Türk Silahlı Kuvvetleri yataklı tedavi kurumlarında 1993-1994 yılları arasında inguinal hernia tanısı ile yatan 1100 hasta, hasta dosyaları ve servis protokol defterleriyle incelenerek, aynı tedavi işlemlerinin belirlenme ve tamamlanma süresindeki değişimlerin varyansını etkileyen faktörler ortaya konarak, bunların ortalama yatış süresine olan etkilerinin değerlendirilmesini yapmak amaçlanmıştır.Sonuçta; yatış süreleri arasında yıl, hernia tipi, operasyon öncesi komplikasyon, komplikasyon nedenleri, hastaneler, hekimler, pre-post aperatif bekleme günü, tetkik öncesi-sonrası bekleme gününe göre istatiksel olarak fark anlamlı bulunmuştur
