Abstract
Congenital scoliosis with formation and segmentation defects is a well known situation but it is rarely seen in more than one member of a family. In our clinics we diagnosed and treated three siblings who had congenital scoliosis because of formation and segmentation defects. Posterior fusion and enstrumentation was done because the curve was severe and progressive but as the patients were going to finish their skeletal maturity an anterior fusion was not added. In patients with congenital scoliosis intraspinal anomalies, the type and progressivity of the curve and the age of the patient must be taken into consideration before the decision of operation. The families who are at risk have to be genetically consulted and the pregnancies have to be investigated.
