Hypertension prevalence and related factors in Tunçbilek Coal-Mine workers

Abstract
INTRODUCTION: Currently, hypertension is one of the most important disease and also it must be evaluate for occupational health. Therefore we aimed with this study to investigate the hypertension prevalence and related . factors, in Tunçbilek coal-mine workers. MATERIAL AND METHOD: Study is performed on 237person, which is selected by systematic sampling method from 5008 workers. We applied a questionnaire and recorded body weight, height, and blood pressure. Hypertension criteria of WHO was used. So more than 140 and/or 90 mmHg in two different time for blood pressure and previously diagnosed people were accepted as hypertensive. Chi square test was used for statistical analyzes. RESULTS: Hypertension prevalence was found to be 11.4%. It was related with increased age, department of work, to be overweight and physical activity. CONCLUSION: We made recommendations in the view of these results.

AMAÇ: Günümüzde en önemli hastalıklardan biri haline gelen hipertansiyon, işçi sağlığı açısından da ele alınması gereken bir durumdur. Bu nedenle çalışmamızda Tunçbilek kömür madeni işçilerinde hipertansiyon prevalansı ve ilişkili faktörlerin incelenmesi amaçlanmıştır. GEREÇ VE YÖNTEM: Çalışma '5008 işçiden sistematik örnekleme ile seçilen 237 kişi üzerinde yürütülmüş olup anket formu uygulamasının yanı sıra boy, kilo ve kan basıncı ölçümleri yapılmıştır. Hipertansiyon için Dünya Sağlık Örgütü 'nün kriterleri kullanılmış olup iki ayrı ölçümde de 140 ve/veya90mmHg 'nın üzerinde olanlar ve önceden tanı almış olanlar hipertansif kabul edilmiştir. İstatistiksel analizlerde Ki-kare testi kullanılmıştır. BULGULAR: Hipertansiyon prevalansı %11.4 bulunmuş olup yaş arttıkça hipertansiyon artmış, çalışılan bölüm, fazla kilo alımı, fizik aktivitenin hipertansiyonu etkilediği görülmüştür. SONUÇ: Ortaya çıkan bulgular doğrultusunda önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
