Abstract
Brain abscess which is common during childhood is generally present between the ages of 4-8. The most prevalent isolates are Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococci, anaerobic bacteria and Gram negative aerobic bacilli. Actinomycosis is also a rare, but a treatable cause of brain abscess. A 7 year old boy was admitted to our hospital because he was suffering from headache, vomiting, fever and drowsiness and his CT scanning showed brain abscess. Surgical drainage was carried out and 'Actinomyces and Prevotella were isolated in the abscess culture. After antimicrobial therapy, no pathologic finding was found in the following neurologic examination. In this study, a case of brain abscess involving Actinomyces which is rarely 'seen is discussed in the light of medical literature.
Özet
Beyin apsesi çocukluk çağında her yaşta görülmekle birlikte, sıklıkla 4-8 yaş grubunda karşımıza çıkar.
