Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the properties of uterine sarcoma. Material and Method: A retrospective study was done on 38 patients whose pathological results were reported as uterine sarcoma. Result: Of the 38 evaluable cases, the mean age was 47.5, leimyosarcoma was the most observed histological type, vaginal bleeding was the most pronounced symptom, stage IV patients set up the worst prognosis. 94.6% of the patients were treated by total abdominal hysterectomy and bilateral salphingo-ooferectomy, 26% of the patients were treated by postoperative chemotherapy and radıotherapy. Conclusion: The young patient group has a better prognosis.Uterine sarcoma doesn't have any spesific diagnostic sign or symptom. None of the invasive or non-invasive diagnostic procedures is enough to explain uterine sarcoma. The overall three year survival rate is 28%. Postoperative adjuvant therapy is still contraversial.
