A Life Dedicated to Radiology: Dr. Mehmet Şevki

Abstract

Dr. Mehmet Şevki was a professor of physics at the Medical School and radiologist at the Haydarpasa Hospital. He made thausands radiologic exams of wounded soldiers and patients especially during the First World War without any radiation-protective agents. Tree fingers of his left hand were amputated as a result of radiation-induced dermatitis and necrosis. He died of cancer due to damage of X-rays at the age of 52. In this article his life was presented with some photographs which didn't published elsewhere before.

Mehmet Şevki Bey tıbbiyede Hikmeti Tabiiye ve Hayatiye Dr. Mehmet Şevki was a professor of physics at the Medical müderrisi ve röntgen mütehassısıdır.
