Water management issue in the metropolitan areas: Ankara case

Abstract

The world's urban population grows very rapidly. The cost of hygiene water supply is tended to increase due to the reasons of this urban population growth and the distance between the water source and the settlement. Neoliberal water policies bring extra cost to the water. In addition to this, accessibility of water and the fair distribution of water are handicapped by these policies. In this framework, water management issue in the metropolitan areas in the light of Ankara case, will be discussed in this article.

Dünyada kentsel nüfus hızla artmaktadır. Sağlıklı su hizmeti sunma maliyetleri metropolitan alanlarda kentsel nüfusun hızla artıyor olması ve su kaynaklarından uzaklaşılmasına paralel olarak yükselme eğilimindedir. Neoliberal su politikaları ise bir yandan söz konusu maliyetlerdeki artışı artırırken, diğer yandan da suya erişim koşullarını ve maliyetlerin su kullanıcılarına adil olarak yansıtılmasını zorlaştırmaktadır. Bu kapsamda makalede metropolitan alanlarda su yönetim sorunu Ankara örneği üzerinden ele alınacaktır.
